Welcome to Yankee Stadium: David Phelps

David Phelps made the Yankees roster out of spring training this season after the injury to Micheal Pineda. He made his major league debut on April 8th.

Coming into this season I named him the #10 prospect in the Yankees system.  Here is a little write up I did on him.

Going forward, I think that Phelps has a very bright future.  I don't however think it will be with the Yankees.  Once Pineda comes back from his injury, I foresee the Yankees sending Phelps back to AAA.  From there, I don't see the Yankees having room for him in the majors unless there is another injury.  For his sake I hope that the Yankees are able to find a team to trade him to.  I believe that he could be a very solid number 4/5 starter in the big leagues for another team.  However, having extra starting pitching is never a bad thing, so having him waiting down in AAA as insurance would be a nice luxury for the Yankees to have.
