Manny Banuelos named #2 Lefty by MLB.com

Yankees Top Prospect Manny Banuelos was named as the number two lefty in all of minor league baseball by MLB.com.  He is behind only Tampa Bay Ray lefty Matt Moore, who will most likely start the 2012 season in the majors.  This means that according to MLB.com he would be the top left handed starter in minor league baseball.

This might be one of the only reasons that the Jesus Montero trade may come back to hurt the Yankees.  This is because the Yankees have top pitching prospects that are very close to the majors but this is not the case with hitters.  The top ranked hitting prospects are Gary Sanchez and Mason Williams who are both very far from the majors.  However, in terms of pitching they have Banuelos and Dellin Betances.  This trade may have kept them out of the majors for a while and there is no bat comparable to Montero ready to come up to the majors.  I still like the trade but that is something interesting to think about if the Yankees don't go out and get another bat this offseason.
