All Offseason Leagues Recap

MLB.com has a very cool site that has updates on everyone on each team who played in an offseason league.  Here is the link with all Yankees.

In terms of pitching, the best Yankees pitchers were Pat Venditte (3-1 with a 2.87 in 24 games), Hector Noesi (3-2 with a 2.66 ERA in 9 starts), and Josh Schmidt (1-2 with a 3.06 in 6 starts).  Hector Noesi is the most important out of this group as he may spend the entire season at the major league level.  All offseason Brian Cashman has been saying how Noesi is a starter in the future so we will see how that works out.  He did have a very strong showing in the Dominican Winter League so that's a good sign going forward.

On the hitting front, Jorge Vazquez (.360 with 17 HRs, 30 runs, 55 RBIs in 45 games), Gary Sanchez (.333 with 2 runs, 1 RBI in 7 games), and Jose Pirela (.310 with 2 HRs, 20 runs, 28 RBIs in 43 games) had the best offensive seasons.  Out of these Sanchez is the big name.  He is a top 5 prospect and has a very bright future.  Vazquez continues to hit everywhere he goes but as an old prospect he probably won't see much major league time in the future.
