Yankees Draft: 6th Round - Jake Cave CF

H: 6'
B/T: L/L

Jake Cave was taken out of Kecoughtan High School in Virginia.  As the other high schools he has committed to play college ball, Jake at LSU.  But again, hopefully the Yankees can scoop him up.

Cave transfered to Kocoughtan HS after his sophomore year from Hampton Christian. His sophomore year at Hampton Christian was one to remember.  He let them to the Division III independent schools state championship.  There he was a pitcher and went 10-0 with a 1.23 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 61 innings.

During the 2010-11 season he hit .621 with 4 HR, 16 RBIs, and 38 runs.  He was voted as an Aflac All-Amcerican.  He was also listed as the 42nd best prep player by MaxPreps.

Perfect Game USA scouting report reads as:

Jake Cave is a 2011 OF/1B/LHP with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Hampton, VA who attends Kecoughtan HS. Slender live bodied athlete, good strength potential. 6.83 runner, open stance, easy load and wrap, busy approach, very quick hands, some lift in swing, stays inside the ball, hard contact to LCF, would benefit from simplifying approach. Outstanding overall athlete, did not pitch but usually 88-91 mph off the mound. Good student, verbal commitment to Louisiana State. Selected to the Aflac All-American team.
