Yankees Draft: 48th Round - Wesley Benjamin LHP


Benjamin is out of St. Charles East High School in Illinois. He is committed to play for Kansas University.

His junior year he went 13-2 with a 1.26 ERA.  He struck out 112 in 83.1 innings.

As a senior he went 10-1 with a 1.31 ERA.  He had 84 strikeouts in 64 innings.

Benjamin is the No. 15-ranked high school player out of the state of Illinois according to Perfect Game USA. He was also named the Kane County Chronicle High School Player of the Year as well as an all-state selection by the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches' Association.  For that complete article and interview go here

  1. I really hope they end up signing this guy. According to perfect game, his fastball runs in the high 80's and hits 91. He has a 4-seam, 2-seam, curveball, changeup. That velocity from a lefty out of HS is a big deal, and he managed to have great stats as well. If they let him go to KU they might regret it.
