Yankees Draft: 43rd Round - Tyler Farrell RHP

Farrell is out of Galesburg High School in Illinois.  He is committed to Western Illinois University.

His junior year he posted a 5-5 record with a 2.03 ERA.  He also pitched for the Galesburg American Legion Team and went 3-1 with a 2.37 ERA for them.

His high school coach said this about him:

“Tyler just worked really hard in the offseason to put himself in a good spot for the next level,” GHS coach Arnie Gonzalez said. “A great kid with great support, whether it’s baseball or academics. He will do really well. Tyler is the type of kid that if you had a team full of Tyler Farrells, you know you are going to not only do well as a team, but you wouldn’t have any problems to deal with. He is a great young man.”
In 2011, he was selected to the All-Western Big 6 Conference baseball team.  His stat line was very impressive.  He went 7-1 with a 0.94 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 52 innings.
