Yankees Draft: 1st Round- Dante Bichette Jr. 3B

The son of former big leaguer Dante Bichette who played 14 big league seasons with 5 different teams and made 4 All-Star teams. Bichette Jr. is out of Orangewood Christian in Maitland, Florida.  His stats as a senior in high school were ridiculous.  According to MaxPreps, he hit .640 with 10 HR, 58 runs, and 40 RBIs in 30 games.  That is equivalent to almost a 2 runs a game.  He was also listed as MaxPreps #23 prep prospect.  He has also been named the All-Central Florida baseball Player of the Year for the past two seasons.  He was also an Under Armour All-American.

Although he has been drafted by the Yankees, Bichette is committed to play at the University of Georgia in the fall.  This will mean the Yankees will have to make it worthwhile for him to skip college and go pro.  However, since his father is a former major leaguer whose career earning according to Baseballreference.com made over $42 million, money may not be as big of an issue for him.  Therefore, lets hope this doesn't end up like the now #1 overall pick Gerrit Cole situation.

I originally did not think the Yankees had a pick today since they signed Rafael Soriano, however they got this pick since they lost Javy Vazquez.
