Yankees Draft: 19th Round - Ben Paullus RHP

H:6'1"
W:190
B/T: R/R

Paullus just finished his junior year at the University of Memphis.  He is listed on the MLB draft tracker as Robert but in the Memphis roster as Ben.  I'm going to go with Ben.  Confusion cleared up, his full name is Robert Benson Paullus.

His high school accomplishment from the Memphis page:
First Team All-Chickasaw Conference, Clarion Ledger First Team All-State, All-Shelby Metro, was a 2008 Commercial Appeal Best of Preps finalist along with Tiger freshmen Heith Hatfield, Drew Martinez and Jacob Wilson. A four-year letterman for head coach Shane Faulkner at DeSoto Central. Set DCHS single-season records with a perfect 11-0 record and 94 strikeouts in just 68.2 innings.  Helped the Jaguars to a 23-8 finish and a District 1-5A championship. Recorded three shutouts and was nearly unhittable with a 1.56 ERA

In college he was not quite as good. As a freshman in 2009 he made only 6 appearances, 4 starts. In those he went 0-2 with a horrible 9.20 ERA.  He had 10 strikeouts in 14 innings.

He was better his sophomore year but still not great.  He went 1-1 with a 5.35 ERA in 18 appearances, 3 starts.  His strikeout rate increased as he struck out 36 in 33.2 innings.

This past year, his junior year, he was much improved.  He had a record of 5-4 with a 2.98 ERA.  He struck out 51 in 48.1 innings.  This season he did  not make a single start but lead the team in appearances with 22.
