Yankees Draft: 17th Round - Matthew Troupe RHP

H:5'11"
W:160
B/T: R/R

Troupe is out of Chaminade Prep High School in California.  He has signed his letter of intent to the University of Arizona.

Only his senior year stats were available. During that season he hit .343 with a HR, 8 RBIs and 10 runs in 75 plate appearances.  But the Yankees drafted him as a pitcher.  He was voted Player of the Week for pitching 9 innings with 20 strikeouts.  On the mound he went 4-2 with an amazing 1.14 ERA.  In 49 innings he struck out 74 batters.  He was ranked as the 48th best player in California by MaxPreps.

His coach had this to say about him:
"The thing about Mathew is he comes in and consistently throws strikes, and when he's off, he makes adjustments,"

Here is his highlight video.
