Yankees Draft: 16th Round - Branden Pinder RHP

Pinder is out of Cal State Long Beach.  However, he was at Santa Ana College for two years before that.

He played high school ball at Centennial High School in Corona, California.  There he lead his team to a league championship in 2007 and earned All-League Honors as both a junior and senior.  He was also named league Pitcher of the Year in 2006.

He had a great freshman year at Santa Ana College.  He was named All-Orange Empire honors while tying for the team lead with 17 starts.  He helped to lead the to a league title by posting a 8-2 record with a 4.23 ERA and 48 strikeouts.

His second season at Santa Ana was off to a good start but after 4 starts and going 2-1, he got injured and used his redshirt for that season.

Then he transfered to Cal State Long Beach.  In his first season there he went 4-4 with a 4.85 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 85.1 innings.  His best outing was a complete game shutout againt UC Davis which earned him the Big West Pitcher of the Week award.

This past season was not as successful.  In 18 appearances, 11 starts, he went 3-5 with a 5.29 ERA.  He also had 58 strikeouts in 63 innings pitched.
